Aortic valve replacement is a surgical procedure used to treat abnormalities in the aortic valve of the heart. The aortic valve is responsible for controlling the flow of blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
Aortic valve replacement (TAVR), also known as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a damaged aortic valve caused by stenosis. It helps to restore blood flow and reduce symptoms associated with aortic valve stenosis, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, and fatigue.
TAVR is an alternative to open-heart aortic valve replacement surgery and helps to minimise the complications associated with it. It is less painful, has fewer internal and external scars, and requires a shorter stay in the hospital.
