Half Match is Enough
Haploidentical Bone Marrow Transplant
A 50% match with a 100% chance.
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) has revolutionized the treatment of various diseases, offering hope and renewed life to patients with conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, and certain genetic disorders. The field of bone marrow transplantation is constantly evolving, embracing new technologies and techniques. Among the many advances in this field, none has had as dramatic an impact as the recent development of successful haploidentical or “half-matched” transplants, where only a 50% match is used. This approach sharply contrasts with transplants that require perfectly matched cells and has vastly expanded the pool of donors.
A haploidentical transplant is a type of allogeneic transplant that utilizes healthy blood-forming cells from a half-matched donor to replace the patient’s unhealthy cells. The donor is typically a family member. With improvements in medical treatment, complications associated with haploidentical transplants, such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), graft rejection, and slow recovery of the immune system, do not appear to be increased compared to transplants using HLA-matched related or unrelated donors.
Yashoda Hospitals is one of the leading Centers of Excellence for Bone Marrow Transplants, having performed the first-ever haploidentical transplant across the Telugu states and the first-ever ex vivo T-cell-depleted haploidentical transplant in adult patients in India. Our Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center boasts an experienced team of dedicated specialists trained in advanced technologies, with extensive experience in performing both autologous and allogeneic procedures. We have the highest number of patients with successful outcomes in India.
The institute operates an Advanced Cell Processing Laboratory equipped to prepare all clinical materials required for transplantation and to accomplish complex cell separation and expansion protocols. At Yashoda Hospitals, we deliver optimal patient care in rare, advanced, and complex Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants.
