COVID-19 Precautions for Pregnant Patients – Dr. P. Usha Rani
I’d like to tell my patients, especially in this covid season, not to panic, because this disease has become a pandemic now and most of the people are getting affected. Many of our patients came here who were asymptomatic and had their covid test positive.
Patients need not panic as they have the proper precautions like staying at home or isolating themselves; improving their immunity; eating good food, and exercising at home. Only serious patients who have symptoms like breathlessness, cough, fever, and cold should consult us so that we can direct you to competent doctors who will treat you specially with special medications.
In a full-term pregnancy, before delivery, or before cesarean section, we advise all the patients to undergo covid testing so that the patient is safe and the doctors, nurses, and all the staff around are also secure. If the patient is positive, we take all the universal precautions, like wearing a PPE kit, wearing a headgear mask, and the whole theater is PPE kitted after the case is done so that no one is affected in the theater, and the patient also does not develop any complications. Suppose the patient is negative; they need not worry because everything goes as usual.
Patients are mostly worried to come to the hospitals because of covid but as we see the hospitals are completely sanitized; social distancing is maintained in the hospitals, and theaters are properly fumigated. You need not worry that you will get a covid infection coming to our hospitals because as we are coming here every day, we are operating every day and we are also testing ourselves and we are all negative.
So, the patients need not worry that they will get an infection from doctors because we are being safe and patients are also safe so other patients do not acquire the infection in the hospitals.
